Evidence Locker by Matterdesk
Data deletion and connector removal
Effective and last updated: 9 September 2026
You can stop future Google, Microsoft or Dropbox access immediately from the product and can request deletion of account or matter data through the verified support process below.
End a selected cloud-file import
On the cloud import page, select “End this import session”. This removes that session’s local access token immediately and stops further requests through it. Sessions also expire after at most 15 minutes. It does not erase confirmed selections, preserved evidence or custody receipts, and it does not revoke the provider-wide grant. Use the provider-side removal instructions below to remove that grant.
Disconnect a persistent source now
- Sign in as the client who owns the matter.
- Open the matter and find “Your sources”.
- Select “Withdraw from all matters” and confirm.
This client-wide action blocks future collection for every matter in that workspace, cancels pending connection flows for that provider, stops monitoring and removes the active collection credentials immediately. For Google and Dropbox, Evidence Locker then asks the provider to revoke the grant; if the provider is unavailable, one already-encrypted access or refresh credential may be retained solely in the revocation queue for retry for up to seven days, and it is erased when revocation succeeds or retry work reaches a terminal outcome. For Microsoft there is no application-revocation endpoint, so every credential is erased immediately, nothing is retained, and the record states honestly that no provider confirmation was obtained. Evidence already preserved and its custody history remain.
Request account or evidence deletion
Email hello@matterdesk.ai from the address on your account with the subject “Evidence Locker data deletion request”. Identify the workspace and matter, but do not attach sensitive evidence by email. We will verify identity and authority before acting.
We will acknowledge the request and explain the outcome or information needed. Account, connector and temporary authentication data can generally be removed when no longer required. Preserved evidence, disclosures, backups and append-only custody records may be retained when the controlling firm, a legal hold, a court obligation, security investigation or evidentiary-integrity requirement applies. Where deletion is not available, access can still be restricted and source credentials removed.
Provider-side removal
You may also remove Evidence Locker from the security or connected-app settings in Google or Dropbox, or from the permissions page of your Microsoft account (a tenant administrator can remove it for a work or school account). For Microsoft this step is the only way the external grant is removed. Doing so stops provider access but does not delete copies already placed in an authorised evidence record; use the verified request above for that separate decision.
